Today must have been parents night. I was walking one of my dogs by the school and the parking lot was packed. As I’m looking around I see what I thought was some lady taking her dog our of the car for a potty break. Being an animal lover I’m trying to get a better view of what kind of puppy it is. As I keep walking I realize that it is not a dog but her son. This took me by surprise a bit.
Her leash was wrapped around her wrist, the same way I was holding my leash. I honestly thought she was walking a dog. I'm sure there are many people out there that do use these child-harness-leashes for safety reasons but I don’t know if I’ll ever get used to seeing that. Maybe because I’m a dog walker.
I guess if you are in a place like Disneyland the leash would come in very handy. Perhaps your child is a runner and can easily slip out of your grip and for safety sake I can see why you would need to leash your child.
Have any of you leashed your kids? Would you consider using one for your child?
these things drive me crazy... but that is not to say I won't use one in the future. Right now, I can honestly say that I will do anything in my power to never own one.. but like you said, if you have a runner, for safety reasons you may need one. We will see I guess...
ReplyDeleteI think they can come in handy if you are alone at grocery shopping with all of your 2-3 kids, all runners and trying not leave any of them behind:) Other than that I guess you can make it without. I am now following you thanks to Finding New Friends, and it would be so nice if you could share the love back on my blog;)

This post is too funny. I have had the same thoughts!!! I have never put a leash on my child, but I have been tempted!!!
Hi Corabeth,
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and the video was amazing. Your profile is too funny. Thank for following. following back!
I have the same thoughts you do. With how active my daughter is, however, I sometimes consider them, but I still worry about looking like I'm walking a dog.

ReplyDeleteHi Gina,
ReplyDeleteha ha, I know what you mean. since I walk my dogs, I don't think I can use one on Buggy. it would be too weird.
Hi Chloe,
ReplyDeleteMaybe if they called it something else or made it look non-leash-ish - just maybe ... Thanks for following. Following you back.
I don't judge those who use leashes in theme parks, but I don't use one. My 2 year old is very, very active, but we do our best and it has always worked out. But to use a leash on a regular day at the park or something? That is crazy! I can't imagine!
ReplyDeleteI don't use one, I stick with the stroller instead. :)

This post kind of cracked me up a bit. I use to say I would NEVER do that to my child.. EVER, however, when God blessed us with the most hyper active and free spirited daughter, we became desperate, and at age 18 months we bought her the curious George harness. She loved him, the only problem was, she screamed whenever we put it on her. So it never came to use. Now when I see those things on childen I can understand from the parent's point of view. I would rather much see them wear those than see a kid run out and get runned over by a car, which almost happend on my husband's eye. Good post!
ReplyDeleteI know. I just keep picturing me walking my dogs in one hand and Buggy in the other - yea thats not gonna work
ReplyDeleteHi - Thanks for following - following you thru GFC - please "like" me if you can.
ReplyDeleteHi Nora,
ReplyDeleteI saw a CG backpack leash yesterday at the zoo - I started laughing! Buggy is like your daughter - wants to walk to do everything herself but she is good at wanting to hold our hands - so far - LOL!
This was TOO funny! My daughter is hyper, so when she was younger, I was tempted, but I never could get beyond the similarities to walking a dog! Loved this!

I've never "leashed" my child. I have seen others use them at some of the bigger parks but not around here.
ReplyDeleteHi Crystal,
ReplyDeleteThanks for following. I crack up every time I see one now - LOL! Thanks for following. Following you back.
Hi Terri,
ReplyDeleteSorry but I am now just seeing this comment from you - wow, sorry I missed it. I'm not used to seeing leashes on anything other than a dog but to each their own I guess. Thanks for stopping by.
