Like the majority of the population, my cell phone is my life line. I use it as a camera to take pictures and videos, check emails and update my contacts regularly because I don’t know anyone’s phone number by heart anymore. But what would you do if you lost your phone with all your precious pictures and videos especially the ones of your kids?
Saturday night Buggy was getting ready for her tubby. While she was picking out toys to put in the tub I went to give Allie her insulin. I wasn’t gone very long. When I came back I saw that she put a good amount of toys in the tub and was ready to get undressed. When I took a closer look to see what toys were in there I noticed my cell phone at the bottom of the tub. Not knowing how long it’s been in the water I quickly reached in and ran back down to the kitchen, took my phone apart, grabbed my rice and dumped my phone in and made sure it was fully covered.
When I’m home I check my phone here and there throughout the day but knowing that you don’t have a phone makes you a bit restless and makes you want to check it even more. Sunday morning I checked on my phone and said a little prayer that it would work. I mean everyone says that putting it in rice works so let’s see. I think I probably should have left it in longer but my phone did work although a bit wonky. I did notice that I lost all my pictures that were stored on my SD Card. I thought because I don’t store them directly on my phone I was protected. My heart sank! I kept telling myself that I would upload all my pics and video but never did. By late afternoon Sunday my phone was officially dead. It was two years old and I was ready for an upgrade but I usually keep my phones until I absolutely have to upgrade or it totally craps out on me. I guess Buggy made that decision for me.
All I can say is that I’m so glad that I recently signed up for a Dropbox account. Dropbox.com is cloud storage. It’s a free service that lets you bring your photos, docs, and videos anywhere and share them easily. It’s set up on my phone to upload all my pictures and videos automatically. I haven’t seen any updates from my phone so I wasn’t sure that it was doing it and when I checked my computer I saw all my pictures, videos and files. I was super excited. I also have Photobucket and had set it up to upload automatically as well and thought I had turned it off but I’m glad that I didn’t. So lesson learned! You back up your computer why not your cell phone. I really hate that you need to be so dependent on your stupid phone.
Do you back up your phone at all? If so, what do you use?
*disclosure: This is not a sponsored post for dropbox or photobucket. Just sharing my opinion on what I like and use

Oh no......Girl that happened to me except my little one decided it would be fun to take my phone and dump it in the dogs water bowls...Awesome. I download all my photos to shutterfly
ReplyDeleteI don't back it up at all, but I have an iPhone, so I think even if it got wet, the pictures would still be ok. I 've known a few people to destroy their iPhones and their stuff was ok.
